Scope of Work Description

1. Restrooms:

The problem:The existing mens and womens restrooms are too small and do not meet code

Solution:The existing mens and womens restroom will be modified to contain the newexpanded mens restroom (135 s.f.). Theexisting kitchen will be relocated and the space will be modified to contain thenew womens restroom (270s.f.). The mechanical room between the two spaces shall remain in place. Themens restroom will contain twotoilets, a urinal and two lavatories. The womens restroom will contain threetoilets and two sinks. Eachrestroom will have one ADA compliant toilet stall and each will containaccessories such as toilet paper, towel &soap dispensers, mirrors, trash receptacles, etc.

2. Nursery:

The problem:The existing nursery spaces are too small and do not meet code

Solution footage is added tocreate the additional space along with a new entry corridor (115 s.f.) on thewest side of the church. The existingnursery (396 s.f.) will become the bed-babies space and a new room (432 s.f.) iscreated for toddlers. These twospaces are separated by a central toilet and storage closets (108 s.f.). The newentry ties into the existingcorridor adjacent to the nursery. This entry allows parents to have easy accessfrom the parking area to thenursery as they enter and exit the church. On the other side of the corridor, anew space is also provided for afuture choir room/classroom (310 s.f.) adjacent to the sanctuary.

3. 2ndFloor and Egress System:

The problem:Both the stair leading to the second floor and the exterior exit stair accessedfrom the north classroom do not meetcode requirements for egress.

Solution:The existing stair from the first floor corridor will be removed to free up thecirculation on the lower level to and fromthe Fellowship Hall. A new monumental stair (288 s.f.) will be located in thecourtyard space to createa central point of circulation to and from the first and second floors. ThePastors Study will be widenedinto the space behind the stair to account for space lost in the new corridorextension.

The corridor on thesecond floor will be reduced to six feet wide and storage space will be createdfor each classroom. The classroomon the end will be modified so that a new, enclosed exit stair (200 s.f.) can beprovided on the north endof the building at the end of the corridor. The floor in the existing storagespace on the south end of thesecond level will be built up to match the elevation of the second floor and thespace will be converted into a newclassroom.

4. Fellowship HallKitchen:

The problem:The existing kitchen is too small and the space is required for the newrestrooms.

Solution:The new kitchen will be located on the west end of the Fellowship Hall as partof the new construction for thenursery/entry/choir room. The new kitchen (672 s.f.) will be more than twice thesize of the old kitchen (270 s.f.)and will have a service entrance to the north with entries and a pass-thrucounter on the wall facing theinterior of the Fellowship Hall. Kitchen equipment will be provided by thechurch.

5. New East Entry andFellowship Hall Expansion:

The problem:Increased space for classrooms and nursery will also create a need foradditional Fellowship Hall space. Additionally, the new kitchen on the west end of the Fellowship Hall, the Scouts area willalso need to be relocated.

Solution:By filling in the existing area between the classrooms and Fellowship Hall, anew sense of entry can be created on the eastside of the church with interior access to the basement and a foyer thatconnects to the new monumental stair.Adjacent to this entry a new room is provided that can be designated for theScouts or other purposes with aseparate entry off of the foyer. This new space will allow all of the existingspace in the Fellowship Hall to beused for social gatherings as originally designed, or to be subdivided intosmaller multipurpose

rooms or classrooms.

6. Parking:

The problem:The existing parking area has 70 on-site parking spaces. Many people arerequired to park on side streets and in grassareas when attending services.

Solution:By modifying the existing parking lot circulation it may be possible to add upto twenty two (22) new parking spaces.
