ERROR MSGThe Friendly Home is a non-profit nursing facility. It was founded in 1849, and moved to its present location in 1918 with an extensive addition built in 1969. This facility is located in a residential area on a main avenue situated on 11.5 acres on Allens Creek. Applicants are accepted according to the ability of the facility to meet the needs of the individual. Medicaid and Medicare payments are accepted. There are a total of 204 beds in the facility, of which 106 are single and 49 are double rooms. All rooms have their own sink and toilet. The Friendly Home provides specialized care for individuals in various stages of Alzheimers Disease and related dementias. The total facility is wheelchair accessible. There is a beauty shop, auditorium equipped with hearing loops, laundry room, gift shop/cafe, library and reading room. Religious services are held regularly. Occupational, Physical and Speech therapies are available, as well as Audiology services. There are full time Social Workers and an active volunteer program. Activities frequently held include: bingo, discussion groups, arts and crafts, ceramics, cookouts and annual events sponsored by the Friendly Council. The home also has its own internal television station, WRFH, which allows members to view activities for the week, movies and special programs. Linden Knoll, an independent living complex for retirees provides 148 one-bedroom apartments. The monthly rate includes heat and utilities. Residents may purchase dinner in the main dining room. Due to the close affiliation with The Friendly Home (adjacent building connected by indoor tunnel), residents enjoy many of the social and recreational activities offered at the Friendly Home.
