Hill Haven Nursing Home is a private residential health care facility. It is located in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood on a main street, one block from public transportation. Hill Haven accepts Medicaid and Medicare applicants. Visiting hours are until 9:00 p.m. Hill Haven is part of the Continuing Care Network, an affiliate of the Greater Rochester Health System, Inc. which includes Rochester General Hospital, The Genesee Hospital and the Independent Living For Seniors program. CCN focuses on the integration of care programs for the elderly and chronically ill. There is a total population of 355 at Hill Haven in 105 single bed rooms, 122 double bed rooms and 2 triple bed rooms. There is a 28 bed rehabilitation unit. Each room has its own sink and toilet. This relatively new facility is wheelchair accessible in all areas of the building. Recreation rooms can be reserved by residents and/or family for private get-togethers. Residents enjoy a library within the facility. A small gift shop is open daily. Protestant and Catholic services are held regularly. There are several recreation spots on the spacious grounds which include a porch, covered patios, a large picnic area with a barbecue and a blacktop walkway for wheelchairs. Residents eat in dining rooms and may have their main meal either at noon or in the evening. Snacks and nourishments are available to supplement therapeutic diets. Residents have a full time social work staff to assist them and activities personnel conduct programs seven days a week. Occupational and physical therapists are available five days a week. Residents may choose their own private physician or a house physician. Services of an audiologist, dentist, ophthalmologist, podiatrist and speech therapist are available on site. There is a 17-passenger wheelchair bus which is used to transport people to community events. Volunteers visit weekly. A relatives support group meets monthly. |
