five star hotel in NaxosWhile Education itself is a free comodity, people don't tend to learn well when their mind is on where they will be sleeping tonight. They can't concentrate on social skills when they are hungry. In order to teach the social and job skills necessary for reintegration with normal society, we must house, feed, support, and otherwise care for these homeless people while they are in training.
If we feed 100 people 3 meals a day for a year, at only $2.50 per meal, that still adds up to $273,750 a year - and that's just food! We still have to pay property fees, rent, utilities, buy books, and much more.
We use volunteer workers and donated equipment whenever possible, but that only goes so far. We also can't depend on Government funding, which caters to "temporary, emergency" shelters, because ours is a long term, educational facility. We must ask for help from the corporate and private sectors. In other words... We NEED Your Help.
