| Design philosophy: Edinburgh luxury hotels "form enables function" Our goal is to extend the same logic that has always guided skateboard design: "Change the shape of the deck to affect its ride". Short boards are simply shaped, blunt, stiff and predictable. Long boards lengthened their design, extending the wheelbase and altering their shape to introduce flex and create a distinct feel. Our shapes are designed to follow the same logic. By making further modifications to a long board shape we can tailor the flex achieved, further refining and fine-tuning the ride produced. We are not making decks more elaborate or complex, actually, we are simplifying them; eliminating the unnecessary from a deck design and leaving only the essential features for producing a specific flex pattern. Common boards are burdened by excess bulk that stiffens them and doesn't allow them to respond to the rider in a productive way. Our decks are designed to enhance and concentrate, rider energy on the most important regions of the deck so that it is not uselessly expended attempting to battle the board back on course. Our boards are not form over function. Rather, their form enables them to function. Each board is designed in an effort to derive a specific and unique ride. We think of the ride we want to create and then let the board take its shape, not the other way around. The boards look like they do because they have to. Every aspect of our designs is intentional and rational. We try to create each board as its own entity. Each deck is a unique work of art perfected by human hands, no mass production replicas here. Because we rotate our fabric graphics (link to graphic page) we never produce more than 3 duplicate decks. Every deck produced is a limited edition. We are attempting to create the highest caliber long board available. Only the finest construction materials are used to their fullest potential, down to the stainless steel hardware. We produce our decks with the highest-grade composite materials and wood, combining them in a way that achieves the highest out put from both, creating a deck that no one else on the market can produce. hotel kempinski TechirghiolWe complete our decks with the highest quality components, from the most respected and championed names in the long board business. The Randal trucks, Abec 11 wheels and Biltin bearings are as important to our boards as the decks. Unlike many common decks that are designed with disregard to the trucks and wheels used, often times having to compensate with awkward unstable riser pads and wheel wells to reduce wheel bite and increase ground clearance. Our boards are designed around the specific components that we use so that we produce a cohesive ride. This allows us to lower all the decks we make and maximize their handling characteristics, while ensuring the wheels don't bite into the board and the deck doesn't scrape the ground, even in the deepest turns. This is why we sell completes only, putting different wheels or trucks on our boards would dramatically affect the ride that it was designed to produce.
